The Andhra Pradesh Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation has taken its first major step towards strengthening the state’s entertainment sector by holding the inaugural meeting of its newly constituted Board of Directors in Vijayawada.
The meeting, held at Fortune Murali Park Hotel, was chaired by Corporation Chairman P. Bharat Bhushan and attended by Managing Director K.S. Viswanathan along with board members representing various segments of the film and entertainment industry. The discussions focused on creating a long-term strategy to accelerate the growth of the film, television, and theatre sectors in Andhra Pradesh.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the appointment of filmmaker Chikkala Meher Ramesh Kumar as the Vice Chairman of the Corporation. The Board also finalized decisions taken during the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) for submission to the state government.
Members deliberated on several initiatives aimed at transforming Andhra Pradesh into a preferred destination for film production and entertainment-related investments. Discussions centered on infrastructure development, attracting investments, creating a film-friendly ecosystem, and introducing measures that would benefit artists, technicians, producers, and other stakeholders in the industry.
The Board also held detailed discussions on the prestigious Nandi Awards. Members reviewed matters related to previously announced awards and explored proposals, procedures, and recommendations for future editions of the state’s highest film honours.
With the state government focusing on expanding opportunities in the entertainment sector, the Corporation emphasized its commitment to supporting creative talent and strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s position in the Indian film industry. Industry leaders at the meeting expressed confidence that the new initiatives would contribute to the sector’s growth and open up fresh opportunities for filmmakers and content creators.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Corporation, including General Manager Mudavath Srinivas Naik, along with other administrative staff.
