Actress and producer Niharika Konidela visited the Sri Mahankaleshwara Temple at Mir Alam Mandi in Hyderabad’s Old City and offered the traditional Bangaru Bonam to Goddess Mahankali as part of the ongoing Bonalu festivities.
Niharika was given a traditional welcome by the temple priests with Purna Kumbham. She offered prayers to Goddess Mahankali amid Vedic chants and later received the blessings of the temple priests, who also felicitated her.
Temple Chairman Gajula Anjaiah explained the history of the temple to Niharika and spoke about the significance and traditions associated with the Bonalu celebrations held at the temple.
Speaking to the media, Niharika said she could not visit the temple on the main Bonalu day because of her shooting schedule. She said she decided to visit later to seek the blessings of Goddess Mahankali.
Niharika recalled that although she was born and brought up in Hyderabad, she had always been fascinated by women carrying Bonams in traditional attire during the Bonalu festivities. She said she had recently expressed her wish to experience Bonalu and was happy that the opportunity came sooner than expected.
Calling the darshan a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling experience, Niharika said she felt the power of the Goddess and was deeply moved by the divine presence at the temple. She also expressed her wish to return and seek the blessings of Amma again.
Niharika’s visit also attracted the attention of devotees at the temple. Several people gathered around her for photographs and selfies, adding to the festive atmosphere at the temple premises.
