SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi has entered another crucial phase of production. After completing the film’s major action spectacles over the past several months, the team began a fresh shooting schedule on July 8 and is currently filming one of the biggest episodes in the film at Ramoji Film City. The ongoing schedule features a massive Aghora episode set against the backdrop of Varanasi. A huge set recreating parts of the holy city has been erected at Ramoji Film City, with hundreds of junior artistes playing Aghoras.
Rajamouli had recently revealed during his France visit that the film has around 80 shooting days left. He confirmed that all the major IMAX action sequences have already been completed and the team is now focusing on important story-driven episodes that connect the narrative before wrapping up the shoot by September or October.
The makers unveiled Priyanka Chopra’s first look as Mandakini today on the eve of her birthday. Priyanka also described Varanasi as an epic adventure spanning different continents and time periods, while hinting at several action-packed sequences in the film. Starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles, Varanasi is one of the most-awaited Indian films in production. With the massive Aghora schedule now underway and only a few weeks of shooting left, the film will head for a worldwide release on April 7, 2027 in theatres.
