Tamil Superstar Vijay has announced that Jana Nayagan would be his last film as an actor and he took oath as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Jana Nayagan was delayed, faced censor challenges, was leaked completely and the digital deal was called off. But the makers had a strong belief and they finally cleared all the hurdles and released the film on July 23rd in theatres. Jana Nayagan opened on a grand note in a record number of screens in Tamil Nadu. The film received mixed response from the audience but the numbers were not satisfying because of the mixed talk.
Jana Nayagan could not beat his previous hit films in Tamil Nadu. Jana Nayagan is an average film when it comes to the box-office numbers in Tamil. Outside Tamil Nadu, Jana Nayagan is a huge disaster. The film opened on a poor note in all the other South languages and the film failed to stand strong over the weekend. The weekdays numbers are completely disappointing and the film’s run has come to an end all over. In North, Jana Nayagan failed to recover the digital investments and it is one more disappointment for the actor. On the whole, Jana Nayagan is not the last best tribute for the actor.
Jana Nayagan is directed by H Vinoth and the film is the remake of Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. Mamita Baiju, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol played other important roles. KVN Productions are the producers and Anirudh scored the music and background score.
