The Active Telugu Film Producers Guild has officially come out in support of the Telangana government’s new cinema ticket policy. The Guild called the new Government Order a progressive step for the growth of Telugu cinema and backed the regulated framework for enhanced ticket pricing. The Guild clarified that the new policy does not allow automatic ticket hikes. According to the statement, only eligible high-budget films can apply for enhanced ticket prices, and every request will be examined by the government before approval. The Guild said this creates a clear and regulated system instead of allowing arbitrary increases.
Another important point highlighted by the Producers Guild is the 25 percent non-premium seating rule. Irrespective of whether it is a single screen, AC theatre, Special Theatre or multiplex, every theatre has to reserve one-fourth of its seating capacity for affordable non-premium tickets. The Guild believes this will keep cinema accessible to common audiences. They welcomed the government’s decision to permit five shows a day. According to the Guild, this will help big releases meet audience demand while allowing screens to become available faster for small and medium-budget films, creating better opportunities for more releases.
The policy also includes a dedicated welfare fund for cinema workers, which the Producers Guild described as an important step in recognising the contribution of employees across the Telugu film industry.
