Brahmastra 2 is facing a fresh hurdle as Jio Studios has reportedly backed out of the project. According to the latest report, Ayan Mukerji is now looking for a new studio partner to finance and back the Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone starrer. The team is waiting for a new investor before taking the project forward. Ayan has been working on the scripting and pre-production of Brahmastra 2 for some time, with Ranbir expected to begin shooting after completing Ramayana. The sequel is currently planned to go on floors in April 2027. Alia is set to return as Isha, while Deepika Padukone is in discussions to play Amrita. The financing requirement is understood to be significant as the sequel is being planned on a larger scale.
Recent reports have indicated a production budget is Rs 550 crore, though the figure has not been officially confirmed. With Jio no longer attached, finding a studio willing to make such a large investment has now become an important step for the franchise. Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva released in 2022 and introduced Ayan’s Astraverse. The sequel was announced as Brahmastra Part Two: Dev, with the story expected to explore Dev, Amrita and the mythology introduced in the first film. The project has gone through several delays as Ayan continued developing the story and Ranbir’s schedule became packed with major projects. More details awaited.
