Brahmastra 2 may have found a new studio partner as Ayan Mukerji is in advanced talks with Namit Malhotra, the producer of Ramayana. The latest development comes after Jio Studios decided not to invest in the sequel. Ayan’s production house Starlight Pictures is now looking for a studio partner, and discussions with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus are said to be progressing. However, nothing has been finalised yet.
Namit Malhotra’s involvement makes sense considering his association with the first Brahmastra. Prime Focus was one of the producers of the 2022 film and was also involved in its extensive VFX work. The company has now grown further in the VFX space through Ramayana, which is also being produced by Namit Malhotra. Brahmastra 2 will again require extensive visual effects, making Prime Focus a natural fit for the project.
The sequel has been looking for a studio partner for some time. Dharma Productions, which was associated with the first film, is no longer involved. Ayan had also held discussions with Yash Raj Films before talks did not move forward. Jio Studios later entered discussions but eventually decided against associating with the sequel. The team is now hoping to close a deal with Namit Malhotra and Prime Focus. Ayan has been focused on the pre-production work of Brahmastra 2. Ranbir Kapoor is expected to begin shooting after completing Ramayana, with production currently planned for April 2027. Alia Bhatt is set to return as Isha. More details awaited.
