Prithviraj Sukumaran has built a strong reputation over the years as an actor who can comfortably work across languages. From Malayalam to Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, he has become a familiar face for audiences nationwide. However, his latest release ‘I Nobody’ has turned into a disappointing chapter in that journey. The film opened with very little buzz and failed to generate interest even after its release. Poor promotions became one of the biggest reasons behind its weak response. Despite Prithviraj’s growing pan-Indian image, the makers could not create enough buzz outside Kerala, leaving the film with limited visibility.
The situation was no better in the Telugu states. The film barely registered among audiences as the promotional campaign remained almost invisible. In Tamil Nadu and the Hindi belt too, the release passed with little discussion, making it difficult for the film to attract viewers. Even in Kerala, where Prithviraj enjoys a loyal fan base, the film failed to gain the interest of the audience and the word of mouth was quite disappointing.
The setback comes at an interesting phase in Prithviraj’s career. He continues to be associated with Varanasi, one of the country’s biggest upcoming films, where he plays a crucial role alongside a massive ensemble. His presence in such a prestigious project reflects the confidence filmmakers have in him as an actor. But his latest solo outing has also shown that star value alone is no longer enough to pull audiences into theatres.
