Tamil actor Dhruv Vikram has landed in legal trouble after production houses Neeladri Productions and Pen Studios filed a complaint against him with the Tamil Film Producers Council over an alleged breach of commitment. According to the complaint, Dhruv had earlier signed a film to be directed by Ramesh Varma under the banner of Neeladri Productions in association with Pen Studios. The producers claim that they paid the actor an advance of Rs 1 crore and also spent a considerable amount on pre-production, including music sittings, set work and advances to the cast and technicians. The film was expected to go on floors shortly.
However, before the project could begin, Dhruv announced a new film with Mythri Movie Makers and director Karan. The producers allege that the Mythri project has been launched as DV4, even though the Ramesh Varma film was originally supposed to be Dhruv’s fourth outing. The complainants claim that when they approached Dhruv, he cited various reasons and reportedly informed them that he would complete the Mythri Movie Makers project first before returning to their film. The producers say this would leave them with financial losses and interest burden after investing heavily in the project. Their main argument is that Dhruv should not have started another film without completing his prior commitment. Calling it a breach of trust, they approached the Tamil Film Producers Council and sought its intervention. Reports suggest that the council has taken note of the complaint and is expected to hear both sides before taking any further decision.
This is not the first time Dhruv Vikram has faced issues over film commitments. In the past, projects with directors AR Murugadoss and Mani Ratnam did not materialize after being announced. The latest complaint has once again raised questions about the actor’s project planning. Dhruv is yet to issue a public statement on the allegations.
