Manoj Manchu held an extensive media interaction where he opened up about his newly launched social initiative AIKYA DHAIRYA SENA SAMITHI, freedom of speech, politics, women empowerment, upcoming films and his future plans. The actor said the organization was created with the intention of becoming a platform for people who want to serve society and support those who do not have a voice.
Q: What is the idea behind AIKYA DHAIRYA SENA SAMITHI?
Manoj: We started with blood donation camps across the state. The first event was held in Kukatpally, followed by Kurnool, Kakinada, Tirupati, Vizag and other places. This will continue. We want this organization to become a voice for the voiceless. The name AIKYA represents unity because society should stay united instead of divided. We also named it after our children Dhairav and Devasena because we consider this organization like our own child.
Q: Is there any agenda or structure for the organization?
Manoj: Right now, we are building the structure with the help of professionals. We started in an unorganized way, but now we are organizing it properly. Recently, influencers approached us saying they were receiving threats and video strikes for speaking against powerful people. We assured them that AIKYA would support them legally and stand for freedom of speech.
Q: How do you see yourself now?
Manoj: I am just an actor.
Q: Are you planning to enter politics?
Manoj: I was born into politics. I always stand with the people.
Q: Who takes decisions regarding your films and career?
Manoj: Since 2016, I stopped allowing too many people to interfere in my film choices. I make my own decisions. My wife Mounika supports me, but we don’t make decisions for each other.
Q: Is there any political agenda behind this organization?
Manoj: Absolutely not. We have been doing service activities for a long time. We just decided to give them a proper platform now.
Q: What about women empowerment?
Manoj: I always support women and stand up for women’s issues. That has always been my nature.
Q: Are you funding the organization yourself?
Manoj: Yes, for now we are funding it ourselves. Later, we will figure out larger fundraising plans if required.
Q: How special is this birthday for you?
Manoj: It is very emotional and special. Usually, I celebrate with Tarak gaaru and legendary Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry gaaru. We miss him a lot.
Q: How will the organization handle social issues?
Manoj: I am not a superhero who can personally solve everything. That is why the organization was formed. It will continue functioning even when I am unavailable. We will definitely become a voice for the voiceless.
Q: How can people contact the organization?
Manoj: On June 7, we are launching my film Rakshak. Along with that event, we will officially announce trust details, contact numbers and guidelines. Rakshak is a women empowerment story in which I play a DCP.
Q: Is the organization limited to one region?
Manoj: It works for Telugu people anywhere.
Q: Can you speak about David Reddy?
Manoj: The glimpse will release in a few days. Around 40 percent of the shoot is completed. It is being made on a very large scale.
Q: How difficult was your physical transformation?
Manoj: It was challenging in the beginning, especially during the first few weeks. Later it became easier.
Q: Did your father support your decisions?
Manoj: Of course. I always have my father’s blessings.
Q: What happened to What The Fish?
Manoj: Unfortunately, the project did not happen due to casting issues.
Q: Can you share details about Mohana Raga?
Manoj: It is shaping up very well. Four songs are already completed, and more work is going on.
Q: Your birthday and Jr NTR’s birthday fall on the same day. Both teasers are arriving together. What do you feel?
Manoj: I’m excited. Good content will always work.
Q: Tell us about your toy company.
Manoj: The company is called Namasthe Toys under the brand Namasthe World. Mounika is launching it in Telugu states and Bengaluru.
Q: Will your family enter politics directly?
Manoj: My wife will definitely enter active politics and contest in the next elections.
Q: Will you contest in MAA elections?
Manoj: No, not for me.
