Deepika Padukone’s exit from Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit has been discussed for more than a year, with different reasons being reported. Now, producer Pranay Reddy Vanga spoke about the issue. According to Pranay, Deepika was associated with the project for over a year and was interested in the script and her character. The differences reportedly started when discussions moved to the commercial and working terms. He claimed that Deepika’s team sought a 10 percent share in the film’s profits in addition to her remuneration. There were also differences over the shooting schedule and working hours.
Pranay confirmed that she was removed from the project because of her high remuneration demand and the working timings. Because of all these, they had opted to replace her. He confirmed that it was Sandeep Reddy’s decision to replace Deepika Padukone.
Deepika, however, has never publicly confirmed Pranay’s latest claim about the 10 percent profit share. She had earlier indicated that she was comfortable walking away from projects when the remuneration did not match her expectations. So, the latest explanation should be viewed as the Spirit team’s version of the disagreement. Triptii Dimri eventually replaced Deepika as the female lead opposite Prabhas. Spirit featuring Prabhas as a cop is slated for March 2027 release.
