After a dull summer, the audience have been rushing to theatres to watch films. The flexible ticket pricing has turned out to be a boost for films like Maa Inti Bangaram, Lenin and others. A debate has been going on across social media opposing the ticket hikes. Most of them argue that the audience are interested in watching films in theatres when the prices are minimal. The next big release in Indian cinema is Toxic featuring Yash in the lead role. Top producer Dil Raju is distributing the film in Telugu states and he acquired the theatrical rights of the film for a whopping price of Rs 120 crores.
To recover the big investment, the distributors will apply for ticket hikes for the first week and for the special paid premieres. But is it a smart move to hike the ticket prices when the audience are rushing to theatres to watch films? There is a backlash in the past and some of the films suffered due to the ticket hike in the Telugu states. We have to wait to see if Dil Raju and team heads for ticket hike or if he goes ahead with regular ticket pricing.
Toxic is directed by Geethu Mohandas and is produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. The film features Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth in the lead roles.
