Ace director SS Rajamouli has wrapped up his successful France tour and is set to return to the sets of Varanasi from July 7. The filmmaker spent the past ten days attending prestigious film events across France, where his work received a grand reception from international audiences. From special screenings of RRR and Eega to masterclasses and interactions with global film enthusiasts, Rajamouli once again showcased the growing global reach of Telugu cinema.
One of the biggest highlights of the trip was Rajamouli being honoured by Institut Lumiere in Lyon. The filmmaker was inducted into the prestigious Wall of Filmmakers, joining an elite list of internationally celebrated directors. During his visit, Rajamouli also spoke about Indian storytelling and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love he received from French audiences. He also unveiled updates on Baahubali: The Eternal War and interacted with fans at multiple sold-out events. Rajamouli also shared an important update on Varanasi, revealing that the film has entered its final phase of production. According to the director, all the major IMAX-scale action episodes have already been completed, with around 80 shooting days remaining to wrap the film.
The team will resume filming on July 7 in Hyderabad with one of the biggest schedules of the project. Reports suggest Rajamouli will can a massive war sequence involving nearly 3,500 junior artistes, making it one of the grandest battle episodes ever attempted in Indian cinema before being enhanced further through visual effects. With the France tour ending on a memorable note and Varanasi entering a crucial stage, Rajamouli has once again shifted his complete focus towards Varanasi. This big-budget mythological epic packed with action is scheduled for April 7th, 2027 release.
