Tamil actor Arya has been booked in a cheating case in Hyderabad after a production equipment rental company alleged that dues worth more than Rs 1.80 crore were not cleared following the shooting of his upcoming film Ananthan Kaadu. The case has also been registered against the film’s producer Vinod, Actor Arya and others associated with the film.
According to the complaint, the production team hired cameras and lighting equipment from Hyderabad-based Taher Cine Tech in February 2025. The company supplied the equipment to the shooting locations in Kerala after signing a rental agreement. Once filming was completed, the total rental bill reportedly reached Rs 2.12 crore.
The rental company claims that despite repeated reminders, more than Rs 1.80 crore is still pending. It also alleged that the filmmakers had given a written assurance that all outstanding payments would be cleared before the film’s release and that they would obtain a No Due Certificate after settling the account. However, the promised payment was never made.
The complainant further alleged that repeated phone calls and messages seeking payment went unanswered. The company also accused the actor, the producer, and the assistant of threatening its representatives during the dispute.
Based on the complaint filed by the firm’s accountant, Hyderabad Police have registered a cheating case against Arya, Vinod, and Kishore. The matter is now under investigation.
