The pre-release event of ‘Agadha’ was attended by several noted personalities from the Telugu film industry, who praised the film’s writing, performances, technical excellence and theatrical appeal. Directed by M. S. Raju, the supernatural drama is set to hit theatres worldwide on August 14.
Veteran producer Shyam Prasad Reddy, known for the iconic ‘Arundhathi’, spoke about his nearly 45-year association with M. S. Raju. He described Raju as a passionate producer, trendsetter and filmmaker with a strong understanding of every department. Shyam Prasad Reddy said ‘Agadha’ goes beyond the boundaries of a routine horror film and appreciated its visuals and editing. He also compared Kamakshi Bhaskarla’s impact in the film to the impression Anushka made on him when he first saw her during the making of ‘Arundhathi’.
M. S. Raju thanked producer Kasi Visalakshi Balusu, presenter Ajay KR and the entire team for their support. Explaining his approach to the film, he said he made ‘Agadha’ like a “super over” instead of depending only on a last-over finish. He expressed confidence that the film would emerge as a blockbuster with the blessings of the Goddess.
Director Sai Rajesh recalled his experience of learning screenplay writing while working as an assistant director under M. S. Raju. After watching ‘Origin of Agadha’ and the trailer, he praised Raju as a true “kingmaker” and wished the film tremendous success.
Producer SKN lauded M. S. Raju’s contribution to Telugu cinema, stating that “Raju is Raju” whether he appears as a producer or director. He said the teaser and trailer indicate that the film has several elements beyond horror. SKN also appreciated Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Shravan Reddy and the producers for taking up such an ambitious project.
Veteran filmmaker B. Gopal praised Raju’s ability to identify powerful stories. Recalling how Raju had predicted the success of ‘Samarasimha Reddy’ after hearing its story, he called him a courageous producer with the instincts of a great writer. B. Gopal expressed the belief that ‘Agadha’ could become a bigger hit than ‘Devi’.
Lagadapati Sridhar named M. S. Raju and Shyam Prasad Reddy among his favourite producers and hoped that ‘Agadha’ would mark a strong comeback for Raju as a director. He also wished for the film to attain cult status.
Filmmaker Anil Viswanath, known for the ‘Polimera’ franchise, revealed that he had been familiar with ‘Agadha’ since its writing stage. After watching the film, he described the climax as surprising, shocking and futuristic. He particularly praised Kamakshi Bhaskarla’s performance, Shravan Reddy, Jovika Vijay Kumar, the visual presentation and Rakesh Venkatapuram’s music.
Kamakshi Bhaskarla thanked M. S. Raju for trusting her with the female lead and the central character. She said the opportunity provided by him had laid the foundation for her career. Shravan Reddy recalled that Raju had first cast him in ‘Dirty Hari’ after noticing his work in a web series and expressed gratitude for receiving another important opportunity in ‘Agadha’.
Producer Kasi Visalakshi Balusu said the teaser and trailer had received a positive response. She praised M. S. Raju’s dedication and commitment on the sets and expressed confidence that his hard work would translate into a successful film.
With several industry figures backing the project, ‘Agadha’ has created considerable anticipation ahead of its August 14 release. The film promises to blend supernatural elements, horror, divine forces, the conflict between good and evil, layered writing and a grand theatrical experience.
