Suriya is once again becoming a strong name in the Tamil cinema race. The actor has been going through a mixed phase for the past few years, but his recent films have changed things around his market. With Karuppu followed by Vishwanath & Sons, Suriya is now building a fresh phase in his career. For several years, Suriya struggled to maintain consistency at the box office. Films like Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim earned appreciation, but they had a direct OTT release. Kanguva was expected to bring him back with a big commercial film, but the film did not meet the expectations. Even trade observers had started questioning his theatrical pull.
Karuppu changed the situation to an extent. The RJ Balaji directorial gave Suriya a mass-oriented role and brought him back into the commercial space. The film’s performance gave the actor much-needed momentum after a difficult period. Suriya has now followed it up with Vishwanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri. Unlike Karuppu, the film is a family-oriented romantic entertainer and gives Suriya an opportunity to explore a different space.
Suriya has a great lineup of films. The actor has to be consistent in delivering hits to stay on the top. With Vijay taking an exit from movies and Ajith not much active, it is a great opportunity for Suriya. The actor also enjoys terrific craze outside Tamil Nadu and this is a huge advantage for Surya. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are legendary actors and Suriya cannot be compared with them. But he has the chance to attain the tag of the next Superstar of Tamil Cinema.
