The hurdles for the Telugu and Tamil release of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit have been cleared. The Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju starrer will now be screened in Telugu and Tamil across multiplex chains from tomorrow. The issue came up because of the film’s early digital premiere plan, which had led several multiplexes to stay away from the dubbed versions. With the digital premiere pushed, the multiplex chains have now agreed to screen the film. The development comes at a time when Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is having a strong run in Malayalam. The film, directed by Girish AD, released on August 21 and has continued to attract audiences in Kerala and overseas.
The film’s strong word of mouth has helped it maintain packed shows even during weekdays. Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju lead the film, with Sangeeth Prathap, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna and Shyam Mohan in important roles. The film is produced by Dileesh Pothan, Fahadh Faasil and Syam Pushkaran under Bhavana Studios. The Telugu and Tamil versions were originally planned for September 4, but the multiplex issue created uncertainty over their theatrical release. The shorter OTT window was the main reason for the objection from multiplex chains. With that window now pushed, the film has received the required support for a wider theatrical release.
