After earning appreciation for his performance in Shubham, young actor Harshith Reddy is all set to entertain audiences with his upcoming romantic drama Deewana. Produced by Vasudev Koppineni and Sridevi Karyampudi under the Arha Media and V Studios banners, the film marks the acting debut of Snehha Manimegalai and the directorial debut of Srikanth Sangishetty. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on the 19th of this month through Geetha Film Distributors.
Speaking about the film and his journey in the industry, Harshith revealed that his acting career began unexpectedly. Originally from a family rooted in Miryalaguda, he grew up in Hyderabad and started by creating content for YouTube and Instagram. His videos eventually caught the attention of the team behind Mail, leading to his first major acting opportunity. Since then, he has gone on to feature in projects such as Shubham, Kalki, and web series ventures.
Talking about Deewana, Harshith said the project came to him even before the release of Shubham. He introduced director Srikanth Sangishetty’s script to producers Vasudev Koppineni and Sridevi Karyampudi, who immediately connected with the story and decided to back the film. The team spent months preparing for the project, conducting extensive workshops before shooting. According to the actor, the preparation process helped the cast understand their characters deeply and eliminated the need for reshoots.
Harshith plays Munna, a spirited young man from Hyderabad’s Old City. To bring authenticity to the role, he closely observed local youngsters and spent time understanding their mannerisms and way of speaking. He said Munna is completely different from the soft-spoken characters he has portrayed in the past, making the role both challenging and exciting.
Addressing comparisons with Arjun Reddy, Harshith clarified that while some viewers noticed similarities in the dialogue delivery and attitude showcased in promotional material, Munna is a distinct character rooted in Hyderabad culture. He believes audiences will discover a completely different emotional journey once they watch the film.
The actor described Deewana as a heartfelt love story centered on a young man who becomes deeply immersed in love. While romantic dramas are not new to audiences, he insists the film offers a fresh emotional angle that sets it apart. Harshith particularly highlighted the interval sequence, calling it one of the film’s biggest surprises. He said the twist has been deliberately kept out of the teaser and trailer and is designed to leave audiences stunned.
Harshith also shared that veteran producer Allu Aravind was highly impressed after watching the film and personally appreciated several of his scenes. Receiving such praise, he said, was a memorable moment in his career.
Currently, Harshith Reddy is also working on Kalki 2 and another project titled Romeo Juliet. With Deewana gearing up for release, the actor is confident that audiences will connect with its emotions, performances, and unexpected twists.
