A fresh on-screen pairing could soon be on the cards in Bollywood. If ongoing discussions end up positive, Dhanush and Kareena Kapoor Khan will share screen space for the first time in an ambitious mythological jungle adventure backed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The actress has reportedly been approached for a parallel lead and the discussions are going on. The untitled film has already generated curiosity because of its unusual setting. Directed by Tamil filmmaker PS Mithran, the project is said to be rooted in mythology and set against a dense jungle backdrop. Reports suggest that the story revolves around an elephant and will be mounted on a large scale. Bhansali is producing the film, while pre-production is expected to begin later this year, with the shoot planned for early 2027.
If Kareena comes on board, the project will mark the end of a long-standing professional distance between the actress and Bhansali. The two reportedly had differences back during Devdas, when Kareena missed out on the role of Paro. They were later linked to Ram-Leela as well, but that collaboration also did not happen. This film could finally bring them together after more than two decades. For Dhanush, the film will be another major Hindi project after expanding his presence across multiple industries. The actor has a busy lineup that includes films in Tamil and Hindi, while Bhansali is currently wrapping up Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal before moving on to this new venture.
