June has come to an end and Peddi, Maa Inti Bangaaram ended up as a huge relief for Telugu cinema. The first week of July witnessed new releases like Nagabandham and Rao Bahadur. Both these films carried decent pre-release buzz. Nagabandham and Rao Bahadur released in a decent number of screens but both these films under-performed considering the buzz, budgets and the footfalls.
Nagabandham received poor response from the audience and the film had a better opening than Rao Bahadur. But the film did not witness a rise in the collections on Saturday and Sunday. Rao Bahadur received decent response when compared to Nagabandham but the film too did not witness any growth over the weekend. Both Nagabandham and Rao Bahadur will end up as loss ventures considering the budgets and the first weekend numbers. Samantha’s Maa Inti Bangaaram had one more decent weekend and the third weekend collections are quite good.
Alia Bhatt’s Alpha received a disastrous response from the audience and the film did not make any noise across the Telugu states. On the whole, it is not a great weekend for Telugu cinema. Akhil’s Lenin is heading for a grand release next Friday in theatres and the expectations are big on the film.
