With just days left for its theatrical release, Romanchakam is generating positive buzz among movie lovers. Starring Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar, the youthful entertainer is presented by blockbuster director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, produced by Pranay Reddy Vanga under the Bhadrakali Pictures banner, and directed by debutant Venu Gopal Reddy. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on September 3.
Speaking ahead of the release, Sumanth Prabhas described Romanchakam as a fresh love story packed with humour, suspense, and entertaining moments. He said audiences of all age groups, from children to elders, can enjoy the film with their families and friends. According to him, every scene is designed to entertain, and the movie offers a refreshing experience from start to finish.
The actor revealed that he plays an innocent engineering graduate who dreams of launching a startup. Although he had already completed two films as a lead actor, director Venu Gopal Reddy made him undergo nearly six months of workshops to help him fully transform into the character. Sumanth said the preparation significantly improved his performance, adding that some scenes were rehearsed for months before filming.
Sharing his journey, Sumanth recalled how he entered films without any industry background. While his family did not have much knowledge about cinema, they always encouraged him to stay positive and treat everyone with respect. He also reflected on how Mem Famous helped him connect with Telangana audiences, while Godarigattupaina earned appreciation in Andhra Pradesh, giving him the opportunity to showcase different shades as an actor. He added that Romanchakam is set against the backdrop of Hyderabad.
The young actor also spoke about meeting Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who first introduced him to the story. Sumanth said he instantly enjoyed the script during the narration and believed the film would connect with audiences. He praised both Sandeep Reddy Vanga and producer Pranay Reddy Vanga for their encouragement throughout the project.
Sumanth expressed happiness over Vijay Deverakonda attending the film’s pre-release event and said the actor’s encouraging words meant a lot to him. He also shared that Sandeep Reddy Vanga appreciated his performance after watching the film’s first copy, which further boosted his confidence.
Talking about the title, Sumanth admitted he initially wondered whether the unusual name Romanchakam would appeal to audiences. However, he now believes the word has already started becoming popular and hopes it will turn into a commonly used expression after the film’s release.
The actor also praised his co-star Ananthika Sanilkumar, calling her a talented performer who learns quickly and brings great energy to the screen. He believes the film will earn her wider recognition. Sumanth further highlighted Vasuki Vaibhav’s music, saying the soundtrack adds to the film’s appeal, with “Radharaman” being his personal favourite.
Looking ahead, Sumanth said he hopes to explore different genres in the future. While he is currently receiving mostly love-story scripts, he wants to establish himself as a versatile hero before taking on action and commercial entertainers. He also confirmed that his next project, directed by Saailu Kampati and backed by the Asian banner, is scheduled to begin later this month.
Blending romance, comedy and suspense, Romanchakam is aiming to deliver a refreshing theatrical experience when it arrives in cinemas worldwide on September 3.
