A major road accident was reported near Sushma Theatre in Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad, on Saturday after a car collided with cement blocks placed along a road divider before being hit by a tempo from behind. The incident left two people with serious injuries and triggered heavy traffic congestion in the area.
According to preliminary reports, the car was travelling towards Autonagar when it reportedly crashed into cement blocks that had been placed along the divider as part of ongoing road works. The impact caused the vehicle to lose control and overturn in the middle of the road.
Within moments, a tempo travelling behind the car was unable to stop in time and rammed into the overturned vehicle, making the accident more severe. Local residents and motorists rushed to the spot and alerted the police and emergency services. Rescue efforts were launched immediately to help those trapped inside the damaged car.
Four people were travelling in the vehicle when the accident occurred. Two occupants suffered severe head injuries and heavy bleeding, while the other two also sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Their condition is yet to be officially confirmed by authorities.
The accident caused temporary traffic disruptions on the busy stretch as police cleared the damaged vehicles from the road. Officials have begun an investigation into the incident to determine the exact sequence of events. Authorities are also expected to examine whether the placement of the cement blocks along the divider complied with road safety norms and if adequate warning signs had been provided for motorists.
