The makers of Kotha Cinema have launched the promotional song “Memu Kooda Cinema Teesinamuro” at a grand event in Hyderabad. The launch was attended by Ramagundam MLA Makkan Singh Raj Thakur, filmmaker Madhura Sreedhar Reddy, director Sailu Kampati and actor R K Sagar Naidu, who extended their support to the unique project.
What makes Kotha Cinema stand out is its remarkable effort to introduce 100 newcomers to the Telugu film industry through a single film. Directed by debutant Azhar, the movie has been made almost entirely with local talent from his hometown, proving that meaningful cinema can emerge from villages and small towns as much as from major cities.
The film stars Suresh and Rakesh in the lead roles, while Azhar has taken on multiple responsibilities as the writer, director, screenplay writer and editor. The project is produced by Mohammed Wasim Akram, Sagi Sudheer Rao and Yadandla Satish Yadav.
The promotional song, written and composed by Charan Arjun, reflects the dreams and struggles of aspiring filmmakers who wish to enter the film industry despite limited opportunities. Speaking at the event, Charan Arjun said he was moved by Azhar’s passion and agreed to compose the song after learning about the team’s dedication and the inspiration behind the project.
Lead actors Suresh and Rakesh shared their emotional journeys from ordinary lives in the Godavarikhani-Ramagundam region to becoming lead actors. Both said they never imagined getting such an opportunity without leaving their hometown and thanked director Azhar for believing in local talent.
Director Azhar said the film is a tribute to the talented artists from his region. He explained that while many people leave their hometowns to chase cinema dreams, his goal was to bring filmmaking to the people instead. He expressed pride in introducing 100 fresh artists through the project and thanked everyone who supported the film.
Actor R K Sagar Naidu praised Azhar’s determination and revealed that the director had been working on the project for nearly three years. He also appreciated Azhar’s father, Hussain, for investing his lifetime savings, including his provident fund earned during his career as a Singareni employee, to turn his son’s dream into reality.
Filmmaker Madhura Sreedhar Reddy, who has already watched the film, described Kotha Cinema as a refreshing and unconventional attempt. He said Azhar had broken several traditional filmmaking norms and assured his support for both the theatrical and OTT release of the film.
Director Sailu Kampati also lauded Hussain’s sacrifice and confidence in his son’s vision, expressing hope that the film would inspire many aspiring filmmakers from smaller towns.
Ramagundam MLA Makkan Singh Raj Thakur congratulated the team for bringing local talent to the forefront. He said regions like Ramagundam have many talented artists who deserve opportunities and assured support for such creative initiatives in the future.
With its inspiring story behind the making and a cast filled with fresh faces, Kotha Cinema aims to offer audiences a new cinematic experience while showcasing the hidden talent emerging from Telangana’s coal belt. The makers are planning to release the film in theatres soon.
